We are excited to announce that our 2023 batizado and graduation ceremony will be held on Saturday, Oct 28. The ceremony will be preceded by master workshops on Oct 26-28. This year, our guest of honor is Mestre Morcego, from Rio de Janeiro!

What is a batizado?
Traditionally, a batizado (Portuguese for “baptism”) is a ceremony where newcomers are officially welcomed to the world of capoeira. New students receive their first belt, or “corda”, during the batizado. More senior students may also receive a new corda to mark their progress.
